Frequently Asked Questions

How does CabGuard measure particles?
CabGuard measures particles utilizing an internal, factory-calibrated, MCERTS certified sensor that uses high accuracy laser diffraction technology to determine particle size and concentration.
What particle sizes can CabGuard measure?
CabGuard can register particles ranging in size from .5 to 10 microns. This size range covers typical dust and particulate matter produced in a range of industries including mining, construction, forestry, agriculture and solid waste handling.
How does CabGuard measures vibration and g forces?
CabGuard measures vibration and g force levels using an internal, factory-calibrated, solid-state tri-axis accelerometer. Acceleration sensing is based on the principle of differential capacitance arising from acceleration-induced motion of the sense element. The CabGuard accelerometer can detect up to 64g with an accuracy of +/- 0.01%.
How does CabGuard measure CO2?
CabGuard measures CO2 using an internal, photoacoustic-type, factory-calibrated sensor capable of detecting 1 – 40,000 ppm with an accuracy of +/- 40 ppm.
How does CabGuard measure temperature, humidity and pressure?
CabGuard measures temperature, humidity and pressure using an internal, factory-calibrated sensor suite capable of detecting temperatures ranging between -40 to 125 C (+/-0.2C), humidity from 0 – 100% RH (+/-2%) and pressure from 0 to 1,100 hPa (+/-0.12 hPa).
How does CabGuard measure VOCs?
CabGuard measures VOCs using an internal, high-linearity, factory-calibrated sensor capable of detecting a wide range of gasses associated with common sources such as fuels, paints, solvents, plastics, refrigerants, degreasers, etc.
How big is the CabGuard unit?
CabGuard has been designed as a rugged and compact solution that can be easily mounted in the operator cabin. The CabGuard enclosure measures approximately 180mm x 131mm x 88mm (LWH).
What are the power requirements of CabGuard?
CabGuard operates using DC power and can accept between 8 to 30 volts (200 mA).
What communications protocols does CabGuard support?
CabGuard supports BLE 5.2, CAN bus J1939, NB-IOT / LTE-M cellular and GPS protocols.
Can CabGuard integrate with third-party monitoring systems?
CabGuard has been designed to allow customers to easily integrate data with existing third-party telematics and machine monitoring systems using common communication protocols.
Can CabGuard provide remote alerts when unsafe conditions are detected?
CabGuard can provide remote alerts and messages via a proprietary, cloud-based platform. In addition, CabGuard data can be imported into existing monitoring systems for independent alerts and messages via third-party platforms.
Does CabGuard have a self-test feature?
CabGuard performs a self-test procedure at each power-up in order to check proper function of on-board sensors, system software and hardware. A detected fault condition is messaged via CabGuard telematics system and/or via third-party monitoring systems.
